If I don’t forgive, Will God Forgive?

I know I said that today we were going to put it all together and go back to “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. But as I was studying this morning, I came across a familiar text.  We call it the Lord ’s Prayer.    Let’s revisit it.

The context:  The disciples asked Jesus to teach them how to pray as John taught his disciples and Jesus responded with:

Matthew 6:9-15 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. (KJV)

Look at those last two verses, “14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

Again, I want you to see how our forgiving others is tied into God forgiving us.   All I want you to do again is focus in on forgiving others, and letting go this week.

Saturday and Sunday are our memory verses day and Monday, we will conclude this study on mercy, reconciliation and forgiveness and we will bring all the scriptures together and deal with what really happens according to the scriptures when we refuse to forgive and show mercy.

Make it a great day and don’t forget to pray and read God’s word daily.
